The Foundation wishes to support programs that are in alignment with their core values. Areas include:

• Community outreach to improving the quality of life by helping organizations that aid the poor and disadvantaged;
• Education, with a particular emphasis on equal access, literacy, science, math and technology;
• Environmental programs that seek to improve long-term quality of life and a healthy ecosystem through such activities as education and conservation;
• The Arts, as a way of preserving culture, intellectual stimulation, and improving the quality/enjoyment of life;

We make grants in California (Bay Area) and Oregon (Greater Portland area). We do not make grants to religiously affiliated organizations nor to organizations that have a religious curriculum.

• Arts Council of Pendleton, Pendleton, OR. Digital arts software purchase. $5,000.
• Camp Fire USA, Portland Metro Council, Portland, OR. School based literacy program. $5,000.
• Compass Community Services, San Francisco, CA. Salary of pre-school coordinator. $2,500.
• Mid-Peninsula Housing Services, Foster City, CA. Read Up! program. $5,000.
• Pacific Northwest College of Art, Portland, OR. Equipment for stop-motion animation studio. $5,000.
• Reading Partners, Oakland, CA. General operating support. $5,000.
• Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic, Northern CA Unit, Palo Alto, CA. New recording booth. $5,000.
• The Elizabeth Bowers Zambia Education Fund, Salem, OR. Technology for library. $5,000.
• The Library Foundation, Portland, OR. Raising A Reader program. $5,000.
• Women's Audio Mission, San Francisco, CA. Website design and training module for middle school girls. $5,000.
