Alexander A. Sawchuk, Board Member.
Sandy was born in Washington, D.C. He received the B.S. degree in electrical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Stanford University. He joined the University of Southern California (USC) in 1971, and is now Leonard M. Silverman Chair Professor Emeritus of Electrical and Computer Engineering. From 2005-2012 he was the Chair of the Ming Hsieh Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering-Systems. He served in the past as Director of the USC Signal and Image Processing Institute (SIPI) for more than ten years, and as Deputy Director of the Integrated Media Systems Center (IMSC).
