Funding Focuses:
- Arts & Culture: The Foundation wishes to distribute two to three $10,000 grants to arts organizations for capacity building projects to improve the infrastructure of their organizations. The Foundation has a special interest in requests specifically related to software and hardware technology that will: improve or enhance their ticketing/box office functionality; work to integrate systems with customer relationship management databases; and/or accounting software to enhance operations. Requests outside of this area of focus will not be considered.
- Education: The Foundation wishes to encourage internships at nonprofits for college undergraduate and/or graduate students (grants distributed in 2015 may be utilized for 2016 internships as needed). We encourage nonprofits to provide an above minimum wage stipend to interns. Average size grants in this area of focus are $5,000 each.
- Environment: (All requests should include an eco-systems management approach): For Oregon projects: Support work to improve the marine system, estuary system and reserves through science-based protection, planning, and/or restoration. For California projects: Support work to improve the San Francisco Bay marine system through science-based research, protection, and/or restoration.
- Health & Human Services: The Foundation supports programs or services that improve our elderly population's ability to live in their own home and community safely, independently, and comfortably. Example programs or services might include: meals or grocery shopping assistance, rides to appointments, home modifications, assistive technologies, etc.
- East Bay Performing Arts dba Oakland East Bay Symphony, Oakland, CA. Support box office technology upgrades, $10,000.
- Farallones Marine Sanctuary Association, San Francisco, CA. Support expansion of the Beach Watch coastal monitoring program, $9,000.
- Friends of Saturday Academy, Portland, OR. Support two nonprofit management internships, $5,000.
- Golden Gate Audubon Society, San Francisco, CA. Support for Pier 94 Marine & Coastal Bird Stewardship, $5,000.
- Good Samaritan Foundation, Portland, OR. Support summer internship for the Advanced Bicycle Helmet Test Project, $5,000.
- Impact Northwest, Portland, OR. Support for Senior Services Program, $10,000.
- Literacy for Environmental Justice, San Francisco, CA. Support for Yosemite Slough restoration and maintenance project, $7,500.
- Marine Applied Research & Exploration (MARE), Richmond, CA. Support the creation of a baseline assessment of the MPA deep waters, $7,500.
- Meals on Wheels People, Portland, OR. Support for frozen meals for seniors living independently, $12,000.
- Metropolitan Family Service, Portland, OR. Support for Community Visitors Program that assists seniors living independently, $10,000.
- Oregon Environmental Council, Portland, OR. Support two water quality internships, $5,000.
- Smuin Ballet, San Francisco, CA. Support upgrade to Vendini ticketing and donor management system software, $10,000.
- The Arts Council of Pendleton, Pendleton, OR. Support upgrade and integration to Wordpress software and purchase technology consulting services, $7,500.
- The Nature Conservancy in Oregon, Portland, OR. Support to restore coastal estuaries on the Kilchis River, $15,000.
- Via Services, Inc., Santa Clara, CA. Support two internships at special needs camps, $5,000.
- Willamette University, Portland, OR. Support a MBA intern who will work for Mercy Corps on the Community Investment Trust Project, $6,600.
- Women's Audio Mission, San Francisco, CA. Support for two paid internships and a series of dedicated intern studio training sessions with staff engineers. $5,000.
- Write Around Portland, Portland, OR. Support the purchase and integration of a new database management system, $10,000.
